Pattern Description
Ume 小梅花
The blossom of the flower of Ume (plum tree) captured in your masu cup! In Japanese culture, Ume has always been seen as a motif of “longevity”, “rich life” or “joy.” Over the white polka dots, orange and red plum flower is blooming in the snow, seemingly announcing the arrival of spring.
Uguisu 千鳥格
“Ume and Uguisu”, in Japanese culture, has been signifying the combination of beauty and harmony. The patterns on 4 sides are called “Chidori Koushi” which is a depiction of “thousands birds”.
Hakata Hasami 博多剪
Within this masu cup, daily necessities are designed in stylish way. Hakata Hasami means scissors of Hakata. It was introduced from China 700 years ago. It is said that Hakata Hasami is the first pair of scissors in Japan. White diamonds make Hakata Hasami looks more elegant and stylish.
Hakata Koma 獨樂雲
This pattern of circles on the masu cups are design of Hakata Koma. Koma means spinning tops. Hakata Koma also inspired and gave rise to the culture of acrobatic top-spinning performances. It has long history of about 450 years. Red and black “Koma Suji” indicates the state of spinning tops and its movement.
